THE DARK SIDE OF HAPPINESS YOU DID NOT KNOW
KEyPOINT: Our strive for happiness doesnot end when we achieve our desired goal.
Satiation effect engoulfs next moment of elation
Our happiness is not contigent on our desire to achieve something. Our frustraion definitely relves by bossting our ego , and our self confidence. The long term studies shows that our feeeling of satisfaction and happiness is very short lived.
If you rememebr your childhood experiences , you will deifinately come to a conclusion that somethig very desriuos during childhood no long seem tempting when you grow up. Since I was a child I was fascinated by candies, sweets, bakery products and all that stuff. We sblings use to lick small chocholate bar with ultimate zeal. I still have a fascination for sweets but the level of happiness that I had as a child is not the same .We plan different targets grades , career, ideal date, marriage , many other choices that comes with age. All of these things make us happy We all have experienced that our enthusiasm for most of these things fades off in a short span of time.
I remember when I first time saw the open sea. I was super excited and thrilled. After spending a few months in the area it felt like a normal routine.Usually the point at whree we feel we have achived our milstone is exactly the place from where the journey has actually started.
HOW THE PATTREN OF HAPPINESS WORKS
Happiness is just an emotion which we experience when something pleasant happens to us. It’s a cued emptional response based on physiological changes in our peripheral nervous system. When we achive something our sympathetic and parasympethetic nervous system is achivated. Sympathetic increses adrenaline, dopamine and other hormones of excitation . We feel high energy , we feel excitement, we feel emotion. Parasympethic normalized it. IT explains that period of excitation is very small. Our body immediately tries to normalize us in terms of both physiological state and emotional state. As an end product we are satiated. Even the biggest news will be normalized by our physiology in the end, emtiona are all transient states of our cogntive processes. Our physiology along with cogntion produces emotns. The emtion is soemthing floating ,it keeps on floating. We can not remain in a sngle stae of emtion.
HOW TO CONTROL SATIATION EFFECT
We are emtionally driven in two ways. Extrinsic or Intrinsci.
Intrinsically motivated persoanltiea base their happines on persoanl growth and fulfilment. The stimulus is present deep inside their personality. Extirnsicaaly motivated personalties base their happiness on external stimuls .Apprication and appraisal from others is their main outcome for gaing happinesss.
It is your externalized motive that the state of happiness is so transient and short lived. You bpught a new car to show your high status . Your neighbour or anyone you wanted to show did not notice or appricated you will feel devasteded. Compliments and praise becomes complimentory factors for your happiness. On the other hand, if your motive is intrinsically embeeded ,you can have a lasting impression of life happiness. Feed back from others becomes less valuable.
All the fairy tales that ends with common message , and they LIVED HAPPLILY EVER AFTER is truely being a fairtale. There is no , Happlily ever after, in our lives. Our mind and body can not function in an isloated state of ultimate happiness. we will be satiated in the end whatever big goal we achived in hand.
talikng abut historical narrative, Bani Isreal became satiatedwith the favour of Allah, they refused to eat Mano Salwa, the ready made food from Havean sent by Allah. theyasked instead for onions and garlic, strange tuh.
